Looking back to the early days of snowboarding, then called snurfing and popularized by inventor Sherman Poppen in 1965 in Muskegon, Michigan, Made in the Mitten follows the pow-filled history of this wintertime sport. Burton founder, Jake Burton Carpenter coined the term snowboarding and was one of the first to developed the snowboard setup as a riff on Poppen’s stand-up, cult novelty item.
