Outside Style: Tougher Than the Rest

FROM TOP: The waterproof leather and padded sole of the TEVA ORAIBI MID ($60; 800-433-2537, www.teva.com) make for casual, cozy knockabouts that you won’t want to take off. New from PALLADIUM, bootmaker to the French Foreign Legion since 1947, the WINCH ($130; 434-239-0391, www.palladium.fr) employs the company’s legendary one-piece rubber tread to seal the soles—just the thing to lace up for a slushy walk to dinner. BIRKENSTOCK’s GLENDALE ($185; 888-333-3991, www.birkenstock.com) marries the classic fit of a cowboy boot to Birk’s famous footbed. The ROCKPORT BOOT 10 ($160; 800-762-5767, www.rockport.com) pulls off a somewhat dressier look and borrows cushioning from Reebok’s DMX running shoes, while the waterproof ALGIERS, from COLE HAAN’s G SERIES ($225; 800-695-8945, www.colehaan.com), mixes street style with Nike Air cushioning in the heel and forefoot.
