Four years ago, we called the Eddie Bauer First Ascent MicroTherm one of the best jackets of the year, with its big, stretchy underarm panels and 800-fill down. It got even better Monday when the company launched its new customization program, which lets you design a MicroTherm online.
Eddie Bauer claims there are over one million combinations to choose from, with users determining everything from the color of the zippers and side panels to whether or not they want a chest monogram and a hood. If you get overwhelmed and need inspiration, you can view custom jackets designed by outdoor celebrities, including Lindsey Dyer (pink body, blue zippers) and Melissa Arnot (blue body, black zippers) on the site.
Full warning: the design process is totally addicting. We spent over an hour last week carefully picking colors, then changing our minds and starting fresh.
The MicroTherm StormDown jacket is currently the only product available on the custom program, although Eddie Bauer says it plans to grow the options in 2016.
