STEALTH RACERScott checks in with one of the lightest competition frames on the planet—a blend of custom tubes and carbon welding that weighs a feathery one pound 15 ounces. For a frame this light, it’s surprisingly solid. When it was decked with Campagnolo’s midrange Centaur group, our test bike came in at 17 pounds and proved to be responsive, efficient, and a goat on climbs. Bombing down a mountain road in need of repaving, the CR1 soaked up chatter and held its line.
Bonus: Scott’s broad carbon weave is as sexy as it is light.
Bummer: For $600 less, the Giant TCR serves up better components.
