Primo Oval Junior

The beauty of Primo’s Oval Junior is that, as with all ceramic grills, you can go low and slow for fattier cuts of meat (beef brisket, beer-can chicken) or get it smoking hot for searing elk steaks. The oval design and optional divider plate ($42) also make it possible to stack charcoal on one side and cook with direct and indirect heat simultaneously.

Bose’s book-size SoundLink wireless speaker makes it easy to add music wherever you fire up the grill. It connects to your phone, tablet, or laptop via Bluetooth, delivers eight hours of play time at normal volume, and, Bose being Bose, sounds roughly twice as good as most wireless speakers.

Any barbecue should have a generous supply of beer. Keep it ice-cold in a classic like Igloo’s Stainless Steel cooler, which holds about three cases of the canned stuff.

When it comes to liquor, make sure you have an ultra-smooth silver tequila on hand, like José Cuervo’s Platino—for margaritas, of course.
