Emerald Expositions started trading on the New York Stock Friday morning, with an opening price higher than expected.

Stock in the trade show company opened at $18.70, 10 percent higher than its anticipated opening price. Around noon Mountain Time, shares were up slightly at $19.31.

Emerald Expositions, owner of Outdoor Retailer, Interbike, Surf Expo, and dozens of other trade shows across multiple categories, filed its notice of an initial public offering about a month ago.

In documents filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission, Emerald noted that it sees opportunities for growth in the international market; it has not yet hosted or acquired an international show, but stated that it sees potential for such endeavors.

Emerald Expositions is trading with the ticker symbol EEX.
